Sometimes it just feels impossible, getting from neath the cloud of depression; when no matter what you try, nothing seems to work, and so you drudge about, mentally draining and driving yourself into a standstill spin of silent despair; And for the loved ones, who are often stuck to endure the unrelenting brooding and darkening energy, it can be just as difficult to weather. However, as Church Girls prove with new single “Telepathic Mind”, even from the deepest fall there is opportunity to climb back into the light and [in the process] produce heart-snatching pop punk glory.
The intoxicatingly catchy track begins with a riff and breakdown that is so simple, but [I swear to the rock overlords] scratches the most nostalgic part of my soul. It’s as if Paramore and Foo Fighters got together and had a beautiful little punk rock baby bred to steal your heart; and buddy, I am here for it. [Church Girls] manages to seamlessly blend the melancholic pathos of depression with dizzying pop punk optimism [and a little angst]; the outcome being a simultaneously bittersweet and heart pumping one finger salute to the dark days that didn’t break us.
The hard rocking quartet will look to carry the momentum of this release into their upcoming tour across the UK and Europe. I have no doubt [with music like this] they’re in for a wild ride, and a hell of a good time. So, cheers, to stepping into the light… and staring holes of fire at the sun.
