Pure Noise Records Throws a Party in Las Vegas Celebrating 15 Years
Las Vegas, NV - Pure Noise Records held the party of the year in Las Vegas to celebrate their 15th anniversary. Putting together a stacked line up with SeeYouSpaceCowboy, Spanish Love Songs, Counterparts, and Knocked Loose.
Starting things off, SeeYouSpaceCowboy took to the stage. They wasted no time in getting the crowd warmed up, launching into their set with ferocious energy. Mosh pits opened up and crowd surfers began to make their way over the crowd. Closing their set with “Chewing the Scenery”, they thanked the crowd and made their way off stage.
Up next, coming from Los Angeles, CA was Spanish Love Songs. Despite the much heavier acts in the evening’s line up, Spanish Love Songs proved to the crowd why they deserved to be included. Displaying a passionate presence onstage, they quickly gathered the attention of the crowd as they cheered after their performance was over.
Following next were the Canadian hardcore group, Counterparts. As the lights dimmed to signal the beginning of their set, the energy in the crowd shifted and a pit in the crowd began to form, all before a single note was played. As vocalist Brendan Murphy walked on stage, they exploded into the song “Love Me”. The crowd was given no time to rest after the short opening song, as they launched into another hard hitting set. Not taking much time to talk in between songs, they kept the energy high through out, ended their set with “Whispers of Your Death”, a definite crowd favorite.
Closing out the nights festivities, were the hardcore boys from Oldham County, Kentucky, Knocked Loose. With their recent release “You Won’t Go Before You’re Supposed To” being received extremely positively, the band is at the height of their popularity.
A large curtain was raised up in front of the stage to prevent the crowd from viewing the crew set up for what was to come. Finally, the lights dimmed and silhouettes appeared behind the curtain. Just as the first notes played of the opening song, “Thirst”, the curtain was ripped down, exposing the transformed stage. Reminiscent of their new record art work, the stage was lit by an ominous cross towering behind the drummer, surrounded by old moss covered trees.
Absolute chaos exploded in the crowd and crowd surfers quickly began to fly towards the stage. Knocked Loose’s set included 9 out of 10 songs from their new album, "Slaughterhouse 2" being the odd one out. However, there were still plenty of other songs from previous records throughout their set, such as “Mistakes Like Fractures”, “God Knows”, and “Billy No Mates” which Counterparts vocalist Brendan Murphy came back onstage to join Knocked Loose vocalist Bryan Garris, both delivering a powerful performance.
Before closing their set, Knocked Loose took a moment to thank Pure Noise Records for putting this show together, and for taking a chance on their them many years ago, allowing them to grow sonically into the group they are now. Their final songs included the infamous “Counting Worms” and “Suffocate”. As the crowd called out for one more song, instead of being met with one final heavy and intense song, Knocked Loose chose to end their set with the last song of their record, “Sit & Mourn”, with its slower tempo, yet haunting atmosphere, this left a lasting impression on the crowd. Pure Noise Records was celebrated that night by intense and powerful performances and the prospect of many more years filled with hard hitting music.
